Winter weather hits the Costa Brava

Winter has arrived with a vengeance in the Costa Brava and surrounding areas, with a drop in temperatures, wind and rain. The Catalan weather service has warned of a high risk from the sea along the coastline of La Selva and Baix Empordà where waves are expected to be 2.5 to 4 metres, while the Alt Empordà is seen as lower risk.

It’s common sense, but I’ll say it anyway, as every year people are swept to their deaths: the sea is dangerous in these conditions, watch if you must, but make sure you are well away from the waves. The sea really is powerful and it just isn’t worth risking your life for.
