Via Catalana to go through Camp Nou

The Via Catalana, the human chain planned to link Catalonia’s northern border right down to the south, will pass through FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium on September 11th, it was revealed yesterday.

Although the chain will not be allowed on the grass, the chain will take place on the terraces and should provide more publicity for the event around the world.

FC Barcelona has long been a symbol of Catalan culture and, more recently, the pro-independence cause to the extent that this year’s away trip is – provocatively – in the colours of the Catalan flag, although it lacks the white star in the blue triangle of the estelada, the independent it’s flag.
