Tourism sector helps boost employment ahead of summer season
May 7, 2013Unemployment in Girona province fell for the second consecutive month thanks largely to employers in the tourist sector hiring ahead of the summer season, although there may be signs of things picking up.
The unions have been quick to point out that many of the new jobs are short term and that employment reforms are not having the desired effect in creating stability, while the Catalan employers’ association cautiously applauded the fall in unemployment, saying that a final assessment can only be made after the summer figures are released.
