Two thieves armed with a taser robbed a house in Pals (Baix Emordà) on Sunday night. The French speaking robbers stormed the house at about 8 pm and tied up the Belgian couple and their son before forcing them to open the safe before getting away with around €15,000, mobile phones, cameras and jewellery.

This is the third violent robbery inside a week in the Ampurdan, with two previous burglaries having taken place Platja d’Aro and Sant Feliu, when the robbers were said to speak with Arab accents.

Despite these high profile case the Ministry of the Interior says that this type of theft is actually on the decrease, with the number of arrests on the up; there certainly appear to be more police cars on the streets these days.
