Roses council acts against illegal buskers

Police in Roses have been confiscating music, instruments and other equipment from buskers who have been playing without a licence.

According to the mayor they have acted against six buskers who have been engaging in”this illegal practice”. Really, is busking without a licence really the worst crime that occurs in Roses? If so, good for them, but somehow I seriously doubt it.

Buskers can be annoying at times, it’s true, but also they can add to the enjoyment of being out and about. The buskers that used to really irritate me were those operating on the Barcelona metro, who would jump into your carriage, go around to collect and, as soon as the train pulled into the next stop, suddenly stop playing and get into the next carriage.

With unemployment at the level it is in Spain surely buskers should be applauded for getting off their arses and trying to do something for themselves. Busking is not housebreaking.
