Spain’s prime minister linked to PP corruption scandal

February 1, 2013

Spain’s prime minister, Mariano Rajoy, has been drawn into a corruption scandal that has rocked his party over cash payments allegedly made by the former treasurer. PP denied the allegations in a statement issued after El Pais published what they claimed was a copy of the party’s accounts.

PP is already mired in scandal after it was revealed that ex-treasurer Luis Bárcenas had given cash payments to high level officials as a matter of course and was found to have a €22 million fortune hidden in a Swiss bank account.
