Portlligat forest fire caused by fireworks
July 1, 2013A young man was arrested yesterday lunchtime after a firework thrown by him caused a fire to break out.
The fire burned about a hectre of brush and vegetation between Portlligat and Calders and was attended by three aircraft and ten fire engines. the man responsible was held by neighbours until police could arrive.
This time of year is characterised by the massive sale of fireworks which are set of mainly on the night of Sant Joan (St John) but in fact can be heard for weeks before and a while after. Their sale seems to be very poorly regulated, which makes little sense in a country where forest fires are all to common.
