New train service between Girona and Blanes to start within 2 years
June 20, 2013An agreement to provide commenter train services out of Girona, Tarragona and Lleida was signed by the Generalitat and the Spanish Government on Monday, with a reported budget of €160 million.
The agreement will see a new route operating between Girona and Blanes, which is currently connected with Barcelona via Maçanet. Few details appear to have been released, although the new routes are expected to be operational within two years.
It should greatly help access between the coast and Girona, although I have not seen details of what other stops are planned. Presumably Maçanet-Massanes, which is an awful station in the middle of nowhere; it is largely unmanned, at the end of a winding road and feels unsafe.
