Marketing initiative by Costa Brava reaches out to new markets in 2013
February 8, 2013The Costa Brava tourist office is reaching out to countries such as China, Kazakstan and Belorussia in 2013 as it believes that they have been underexposed to the campaigns of rival destinations.
The organisation also wants to consolidate the Russian market as in some resorts during the summer of 2012 some 40% of tourists were reported to be Russian, while the high speed train from Paris opens up new opportunities closer to home.
It is targeting China with a eye to the luxury market as the country has 25 million millionaires, and so keen to promote luxury hotels, gastronomy, golf and casinos. And another niche market is the Jewish community in Miami, which it believes will be interested in learning more of the heritage of Girona, Besalu and Castelló Empúries.
