Lloret raises €300k in fines for uncivil behaviour

Local police in Lloret de Mar have levied fines of €300,000 in the first year following byelaws prohibiting uncivil behaviour.

In total police issued 2,200 fines for offences that included disturbing the peace, prostitution and street sellers. The latter offence amounted to roughly half of all fines.

It is also forbidden to walk around Lloret topless, except near the beach, consume alcohol in public places and hotels that tolerate guests in the practice of “balconing”, throw objects from balconies, or shout are also liable to being fined.

No shirts? No drinking in public? Isn’t that just about all Lloret has to offer?
