Lightning blamed for forest fire in Torroella

Six fire engines and three aircraft were called in yesterday to deal with a forest fire near Torroella de Montgrí that burnt 75 m² of pines and scrub.

The fire started at around 10:30 on Monday morning and is believed to have been started by lightning; it was extinguished by around 1 pm.

Another fire was dealt with in Sant Coloma de Farners in the afternoon, which saw a 100 m² area of pine needles incinerated.
