Guàrdia Civil arrest illegal Cadaqués coral collectors

The Guàrdia Civil arrested two fishermen last week for collecting 12.5 kg of red coral near Cadaqués without a licence.

The entire area of the Cap de Creus is protected as a natural marine park and it is forbidden to remove coral or any other item without permission. The protected zone has been successful in reviving coral that had become depleted due to over-harvesting in an era when it was unregulated.
