Tourist sector in Girona province down in December as economic crisis continues
February 1, 2013Last week it was revealed that the hotel sector had been hit by a 10.4% fall in December compared with the same month in 2011, with but new figures show that tourism generally took a hit.
Apartment rentals were hit particularly hard with a 35.3% fall and camp sites were down 9.3%. However, it isn’t all bad news, with rural tourism actually increasing by 3.6%.
These numbers show just how hard Spain has been hit by the economic crisis, as they tell only part of the story; foreign tourism has actually grown at camp sites and apartments.
