Fifty illegal property companies reported by Girona Association of Estate Agents

January 22, 2013 Leave your thoughts

The Association of Estate Agents in Girona (Agentes de la Propiedad Inmobiliaria, or API) has reported 50 illegal estate agents in various locations including Roses, L’Escala and Lloret de Mar.

The majority of these are foreign owned and not listed at the Register of Realtors, as is required by Catalan law. Estate agents are also required to hold a degree, which seems rather excessive and a protectionist measure rather than offering transparency as is the official line.

What do you think? Leave a comment to let us know if this is a move in the right direction, or a self serving action by an organisation representing estate agents who, based on personal experience, have no idea how to sell property except in boom times.
