Fewer tourist quality beaches recognised in Costa Brava this year
June 12, 2013Girona is the only province in Catalonia to have fewer beaches receive the flag marked “Q” for tourism quality for summer 2013, according to reports.
Last year the Costa Brava received eight flags, which dropped to just five this year:
- Sa Conca
- Platja d’Aro
- Empuriabrava
- Estartit Beach
- Sant Antoni de Calonge
Platja d’Aro is obvious, although it is not my favourite Costa Brava beach, but it has good facilities and tends not to get overcrowded, but Sa Conca is overrated. I much prefer the beach on the other side of s’Agaró, San Pol, and the beach at Empúries, near l’Escala, is small but also not so busy in August.
