Discovering The Costa Brava Beaches

January 19, 2013 Leave your thoughts

Four different beaches on the Costa Brava, four entirely different characters. Independent Travel Help takes a look at the individual strengths of the beaches at Tossa de Mar, Empuries, Roses and Platja d’Aro and finds more to do than swimming and sunbathing.

Personally I love the beach at Empuries as it tends not to get overcrowded in the summer, while Platja d’Aro is the nearest beach to home and some often go there. As a beach its big advantage is that it is several kilometres long and so even at the height of the summer you can find somewhere for your towel without being packed like sardines.

Platja d’Aro also has plenty of parking, but suffers from the number of hotels and apartment buildings just set back from the beach which plunge it into shade in the evenings.
