Costa Brava’s beaches among the cleanest in Europe

The European Environment Agency has ranked 98 percent of beaches on the Girona coastline to be excellent, with just two of the 89 beaches tested reviving the second highest ranking.

This is well above the European average of 78 percent and ranks the Costa Brava third highest in all of Europe, beaten only by Cyprus and Luxembourg. The tests involve the regularly testing for the presence of certain bacterias in the water.
