Bomb squad called in to deal with unexploded Civil War shell in Port de la Selva
August 21, 2013An unexplored shell dating from the Civil War found by a swimmer just a few metres offshore at the weekend was detonated by bomb do spousal experts on Tuesday.
The site appears to be near a small cove on the outskirts of the fishing town, which is currently in full tourist season. The area was sealed off after the shell was found, which turned out to be a relatively small device.
It is amazing that a live shell could have remained so close to an area popular with swimmers for so long. From the video footage the wind looks like it didn’t help the operation.
