Anti-litter campaign in Platja d’Aro

Platja d’Aro has been running a campaign this summer to raise awareness of the need to keep beaches clean with massive models of cigarette butts, chewing gum and bottle tops displayed on the beach on various days.

Not that it seems to have much impact on some tourists though. A coup,e of weeks ago four German youngsters left a pile of beer cans, crisp packets and other litter despite being asked to clear up after them.

When the whole lot was collected up and dumped in front of them, after they had settled in a spot on the promenade one of the girls simply retorted “fuck you”, in English.

Errr, actually no. If you’re going to deliberately litter the beaches here, fuck YOU.
