Hearing on Ampurdan fires closed as culprits remain unidentified
June 18, 2013It has not been possible to identify whoever was responsible for the fires in the Ampurdan last July and the case closed by a judge in the Girona yesterday. The fire raged for several days and covered an area of more than 10,000 hectares, causing three deaths.

If you are visiting anywhere that suffers from forest fires, in Catalonia, elsewhere in Spain, or in another country entirely, please act carefully. Fires are often started by cigarettes discarded carelessly from a car, and get out of control very quickly. Make sure your cigarette is extinguished, dispose of your butts carefully and don’t light fires in the forests.
