Ampordan wines posted big sales increase in 2012

April 23, 2013

While Spain seems to be permanently locked down by the economic crisis, there are some good news stories regarding business. One of those is the sale of Ampordan wines, which last year posted a 13 percent increase in sales to 4,800 bottles.

The majority of wine designated Denominación de Origen Empordà is sold locally, with 40 percent of sales occurring in the province of Girona, but exports have grown 13 percent to the United Stages, Germany, Norway, Switzerland and Canada and such has been the increase in demand that two new warehouses have been constructed.
