Access to disputed beach in Sant Feliu de Guíxols expected to open up
February 15, 2013The company responsible for the Club de Mar at Sant Feliu de Guíxols is looking for a contractor to knock down the wall blocking public access to the beach in front of the complex, in compliance with costal laws.
The company has a ten day grace period to see if they can find a company that will complete the work at lower cost than the Catalan government’s figures following the rejection by the community of the Generalitat’s quote.
Turispania’s president has stated that he expects the wall to come down soon, but what was not yet decided was whether they would do the work or the Generalitat. The demolition order is being contested in court as the company says that the wall predates the apartment complex and existed prior to 1922 and so therefore the law does not apply.
The demolition will also create a security headache for some owners as there will be nothing to prevent access to private terraces from the beach.
