35 participate in 12 degree swim in Sant Feliu de Guíxols

A local swimming club in Sant Feliu de Guíxols collaborated with the town council to organise a swimming race on the town beach yesterday.

35 swimmers participated in the event “No a la fred” (“no to the cold”) over a two kilometre distance in a water temperature of 12 degrees Celsius. he participants, clad in wet suits, were treated to hot chocolate and pastries after crossing the finish line.

Last year the event had 18 participants and although I have never swum in January, I have dived with a similar water temperature; the cold really does get to your hands and feet after a few minutes in the water.
