17 arrested as police act against gang responsible for string of burglaries

Following on from yesterday’s story about an 86 year old woman being threatened with a knife and tied up following a burglary at her home in Santa Cristina d’Aro, today the police announced the arrest of a 17 strong gang responsible for s string of burglaries in the area.

Although they seem to be unconnected with this weekend’s attack, as police say they gained entry using stealth and silently going through the owners’ belongings while the slept, it is another notable success for the police.

A couple of months after the current crime wave started back in November police presence noticeably increased and there are often roadblocks at roundabouts and junctions, presumably looking out for criminal gangs.
