New series: The Costa Brava’s best beaches

Costa Brava beaches

The Costa Brava extends along 256 kilometres of coastline that stretches from Blanes up to the French border and along the way are beaches to suit all needs, from lying under the sun on white sand to exploring the rocks with a mask and snorkel and from town beaches that include quaint fishing villages as well high rise tourist Meccas, to those that are best reached by boat.

Although there is a temptation to give you a list of the best beaches on the Costa Brava, that will vary massively by what you are looking for; a beach that I love for snorkelling will be useless if all you want to do is sunbath and look after your toddlers.

And there is the other thing. Although I may give you the best beaches that I know about now, I’d be overstating my knowledge of the Costa Brava if I claimed to know every inch of coastline. While I certainly do know quite a number of beaches along the Catalan coast (both on the Costa Brava and south of Barcelona), there are bound to be plenty of gems I’ve yet to come across.

So, with that in mind I’m going to present a series of articles over the summer on my personal top seven beaches on the Costa Brava at the moment starting tomorrow.
