Palamós camping

Palamós is the only town within the province of Girona still with a fishing fleet and is famous for its prawns. Little wonder that both locals and foreign tourists flock to the area for the sandy beaches in summer.

As well as the main town beach you’ll find the kid-friendly La Fosca as well as one of the best and least spoilt beaches of the central Costa Brava, Platja Castell. While Palamós is hardly overrun with campsites you do at least have a choice of where to stay. Here we look at what’s available.

Càmping Palamós

Carretera la Fosca, 12

This tree-shaded campsite is close to the port area of Palamós and offers pitches overlooking the sea. The campsite is dog friendly and as will as pitches in a variety of sizes suitable for tents and campervans there are chalets available for up to six. Here you’ll find two good sized swimming pools open over the summer months. There is also a shop, restaurant, barbeque area and sports facilities include tennis courts.

Camping Benelux

Paratge de Castell

Located less than a kilometre from the most unspoilt beach on this section of the Costa Brava you’ll find Camping Benelux. Pitches here are shaded by pines and mulberry trees and there are also rental tents available. Castell beach is the obvious attraction here but on site you’ll find decent pool, bar, restaurant, supermarket, newsagent, pharmacy and laundry facilities. You reach Camping Benelux along narrow country roads but it is still only a short distance from Palamós and with easy access to the C-31 you can easily explore the area by car.
