Guide to Palafrugell camping

Along the rocky coastline of Palafrugell you’ll find a number of former fishing villages that are now picturesque holiday destinations.

Of these Calella de Palafrugell has a handful of campsites, while nearby Llafranc and Tamariu have one each. Slightly inland at Vall-Llobrega and Mont-Ras you’ll find three more options, the latter of which has a nudist campsite.

Close to the beach

If you’re looking to camp in the Palafrugell area with an easy walk to the beach then you’ve got a decent choice of campsites. While these are mainly located in Calella de Palafrugell and next door Llafranc, Tamariu also has a campsite.

Camping Calella de Palafrugell

Carrer de Fuerteventura (Calella de Palafrugell)

This is a large resort style campsite with plenty of pine shaded plots for tents and caravans with a variety of rental chalets. Camping Calella de Palafrugell has a large centrally located swimming pool, snack bar with dining areas inside and out, a gym, supermarket with bakery and sports areas. The beach is around half a kilometre and so a fairly easy walk.

Camping & Bungalows Moby Dick

Carrer de la Costa Verda, 16 (Calella de Palafrugell)

Once a campsite used by Boy Scouts, Moby Dick is one of the longest running campsites on the Costa Brava. Here you have the choice of tree shaded pitches for your tent or caravan or a rental chalet. The campsite has a smallish heated swimming pool with sea views, a restaurant and laundry facilities. While there is no supermarket, there is one close by and the campsite does allow dogs.

Camping Kim’s

Avinguda del Mar, KM 2 (Llafranc)

On the opposite side of the road to La Siesta you’ll find Camping Kims, technically in Llafranc. This moderately sized campsite is surrounded by pines that are so typical of this part of the Costa Brava and has a mixture of pitches, chalets and apartments. The pitches are between 70 and 100 m² with 6-10 amp power. Facilities include a decent sized swimming pool, supermarket, bar-restaurant and laundry facilities.

Càmping Tamariu

Carrer de Costa Rica, 2 (Tamariu)

This small campsite in Tamariu has 125 pine-shaded pitches ranging in size from 30m² to 100m² plus a number of wooden chalets. You’ll also find a large saltwater swimming pool, a bar-restaurant offering takeaway and laundry facilities, while you’re only 250 metres or so from the beach. From the campsite itself you get views of the sea and the mountains.

Inland

The campsites listed here are close to the C-31 highway a couple of kilometres inland. While not quite so easy to take an easy stroll down to the sand, these may suit you if you’re planning on exploring the region by car or, in the case of one, specifically looking for a naturist campsite.

Camping Tres Estrellas

Carretera C-31, exit 329 (Vall-Llobrega)

At Camping Tres Estrellas you can choose between a 90m² pitch for your tent or caravan and a chalet or small sleeping cubes. On site is a pool and a restaurant offering traditional and contemporary dishes. In the summer you can also shop at the on-site supermarket. The campsite is right next to the C-31 so traffic noise may bother but it’s just a couple of kilometres to Castell beach, one of the last completely unspoilt beaches on the entire Costa Brava.

Camping Relax-Nat

Barri Canyelles, 2 (Mont-ras)

Camping Relax-Nat is a naturist campsite situated a couple of kilometres inland. The campsite is also pet friendly. As well as camping plots the campsite has bungalows and on site you’ll find a bar and cafeteria. Other facilities include a pool, shop, barbeque area and laundry facilities.

Camping Relax-Ge

Carretera C-31, exit 330 (Mont-ras)

If naturism isn’t really your thing then Camping Relax-Ge may be more to your liking, although it is right next to the C-31 so you’ll have to endure road noise.  Here you’ll find a swimming pool area, snack bar and supermarket and the campsite is also pet friendly. One word of warning: although there are plans to repurpose the building, there is a well-known brothel on the other side of the C-31.
