Perhaps because it is tucked away in the very northern Costa Brava on the border with France, Portbou lacks the tourism of other towns.
All the same, it is perhaps surprising given the popularity of camping on the Costa Brava that Portbou doesn’t have a single campsites. The nearest is in Colera, or you can head into France where you’ll find a number of campsites near Collioure.
However, Portbou does have a motorhome site in the port where you can stay in your motorhome for a maximum of two nights. It is only open during the offseason though, from October to May.
The view is good, it’s very cheap and you get access to the port’s shower facilities and toilets, but otherwise facilities are as basic as they come. Conditions are very strict and you’re not able to extend awnings or put out a camping table and chairs next to your motorhome.
You book your space on arrival in the harbourmaster’s office. 2021 prices are €10 for 24 hours and €15 for 48 hours.
