In common with many Catalan towns l’Escala has a weekly market selling clothes and food, as well as a dedicated fruit and veg market in the old town and, during the tourist season, a summer market selling a variety of things.
Weekly market
Plaça de l’Univers and Passeig del Mar
The main weekly market takes place down on the seafront on Sunday mornings. You’ll find the stalls spread over the area near the statue of the little prince at the end of Riells beach. The market is open from around 8 am until 2 pm.
Fruit and veg market
Plaça Victor Català
There is also a fruit and veg market in town on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. It’s located in Plaça Victor Català and opening hours are similar to the weekly market.
Summer market
La Riba
You’ll find a number of stalls in the old town on Wednesday evenings from the end of July and throughout August. The stalls are behind one of the old town beaches and between 7 pm and midnight you’ll find all manner of things including jewellery, clothes, and locally grown food.

We are in Navata and would like to do an evening market that sells everything. Can you advise? Thank you.
