Platja d’Aro market

The weekly market in Platja d’Aro takes place every Friday.

Like the majority of towns throughout Spain, Platja d’Aro hosts a weekly market. There you’ll find all kinds of stalls selling clothes, shoes, fruit and veg, trinkets, cured meat, ceramics, hats, Catalan flags, Barça kits, kitchenware, sunglasses, African carvings and everything imaginable in between.

You can take a look at the market during peak season in August in the video above. At that time of year it gets pretty packed with tourists outnumbering the locals. It’s a little quieter off season.

The market takes place every Friday throughout the year. You’ll find it in the free car park on the left just before you reach the high street from the C31.

For obvious reasons the car park is closed on Friday mornings and if you leave your car there it will be towed. There are warning signs but it can be easy to forget if you’ve switched off your brain and in full holiday mode.

It opens at 8am and goes through until 1pm when you may find some fruit being sold off cheap. We’ve had some really good deals on melons in the past.
